Pastor Umo Bassey Eno (APC, born 24 April 1964) has served as Governor of Akwa Ibom State since May 2023. A clergyman and businessman before politics, he previously served as the state's Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources. His administration runs the 'ARISE Agenda' and presented a ₦1.39 trillion 2026 budget without new borrowing.
History
Akwa Ibom State was created on 23 September 1987 from the former Cross River State. Its official 2006 census population was 3,178,950. A coastal state bordering Cross River, Rivers, and Abia, it is among Nigeria's leading oil-producing states.
