History
Edo State was created on 27 August 1991 from the former Bendel State. Its capital, Benin City, is the fourth-largest city in Nigeria and the historic seat of the centuries-old Benin Kingdom, renowned for its royal court and bronze artistry. Its official 2006 census population was 3,233,366.
