Dr. Agbu Kefas (APC) has served as Governor of Taraba State since 29 May 2023. His administration has focused on security stabilization and agricultural revival in a state long known for herder-farmer tensions, alongside infrastructure development in the capital, Jalingo.
History
Taraba State was created on 27 August 1991 from the former Gongola State (split alongside Adamawa State), under the military government of General Ibrahim Babangida. Nicknamed the 'Nature's Gift to the Nation,' it hosts Chappal Waddi, Nigeria's highest peak, and shares Gashaka-Gumti National Park with Adamawa.
